The Pentagon admitted that US President Joe Biden made statements that did not match reality during the round of debates with his potential rival in the presidential election, Donald Trump.
Biden claimed during the debate with Trump, on Thursday, that American military personnel were not killed during his administration’s time in the White House.
During a press conference on Friday, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh declined to answer a question regarding these Biden statements, and said, “To learn more about the president’s statements and the debate itself, I would advise you to go to the White House.”
She added that Biden "offered his condolences to the families who suffered."
In response to a journalist's question whether Biden's statements in this regard were incorrect, Singh tried to evade the answer again. She said: “I believe that you and others have reported on some cases of military deaths... and you have seen the President’s expression of his deep condolences to those families.”
When asked the third question about this topic, Singh said: “As you mentioned, there were undoubtedly cases of killing of military personnel during the term of this administration.”
It is noteworthy that Biden held his first debate with Trump as part of his election campaign on Thursday. Public opinion polls indicate that Trump's performance was stronger than Biden's.
