Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the second round of talks between his Ethiopian counterpart, Tai Atseki Selassie, and his Somali counterpart, Ahmed Moallem Faqi, will be held on September 2 in the capital, Ankara.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that Fidan hosted his Ethiopian and Somali counterparts in Ankara, adding that the three ministers signed a joint statement after “frank, friendly and forward-looking” talks regarding resolving the differences between the two countries.
Turkey has initiated mediation talks between Somalia and Ethiopia regarding an agreement on the port of Berbera on the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden, which Addis Ababa signed with the separatist Somaliland region earlier this year.
