The Ukrainian army announced that it recaptured a new village today, Wednesday, in the Donetsk province, east of the country.
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said that her country's forces had "liberated" the village of Oruzin, and were continuing their attack in the region.
Orozyn - which had a population of about a thousand people before the war - is located within a group of villages, some of which Ukrainian forces have recaptured since the start of their counterattack on June 4th.
This comes as Russian security services confirmed on Wednesday that they had “killed” four Ukrainian “saboteurs” who were trying to infiltrate from Ukraine into the Bryansk border region, according to what Russian news agencies reported.
The agencies quoted a statement from the Federal Security Services that they and forces from the Russian Ministry of Defense “thwarted an attempt by an intelligence group and Ukrainian saboteurs to penetrate Russian territory,” confirming “the killing of four saboteurs,” without specifying the date of the operation.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that Russian forces shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Crimean Peninsula.
Earlier today, Russia announced that its air defenses shot down 3 Ukrainian drones over the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, in the latest such attack targeting areas adjacent to the capital. Later on Wednesday, the Ukrainian Air Force announced that 13 Russian drones had been shot down during Tuesday night.
In Priya, Kiev announced, on Wednesday, the recapture of a village in the Donetsk region from the hands of Russian forces.
Hana Malyar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, said that Ukrainian forces fortified themselves on the outskirts of the village of Oruzkhin in the Donetsk region after regaining control of it from the hands of Russian forces.
