The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process warned of the danger and expansion of the escalation in the Gaza Strip.

This came in a speech delivered by the UN Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wensland, during the session held by the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East via video technology.

Wensland added that the only way to stop the bloodshed and prevent its recurrence is to pave the way towards a long-term political solution, in line with United Nations resolutions, international law and previous agreements.

He called for allowing humanitarian aid to reach the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip without restrictions, calling on everyone to make efforts to end the hostilities and prevent any further expansion of the conflict in the region.
