Today, Thursday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant signed an order to confiscate 18 oil tankers related to Iran, “used to finance and supply the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” according to the statement.
According to the Times of Israel newspaper, this came in a statement by the National Office for Combating Terrorist Financing of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
The office said in the statement, “The order was issued to confiscate 18 oil tankers belonging to the Quds Force, which benefits from the proceeds of their sale in order to finance its operations and support the growing power of terrorist organizations, including Hamas and Hezbollah.”
The statement added: “The oil comes from the Iranian authorities’ allocations to the Quds Force, which transports oil in tankers under a legitimate facade, in an attempt to circumvent international sanctions.”
In this context, the newspaper "Haaretz" reported that "the oil tankers used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard are registered in the names of fictitious companies around the world, and sail without operating broadcasting and tracking devices in order to hide their routes and operations."
The newspaper described the decision as “unusual,” noting that “Israel had taken various military steps in the past to abort an attempt to smuggle oil from Iran.”
Fears are increasing about the outbreak of a broad regional conflict with Iran and its allies vowing to respond to the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran in an operation attributed to Israel, and the assassination of the prominent leader of Hezbollah, Fouad Shukr, in an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.< /p>
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard vowed that “revenge against Israel” would take place through a new and surprising scenario, in response to the assassination of Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
