As part of the government’s efforts to protect the national currency and enhance economic stability, the Public Prosecution on Monday morning carried out its second consecutive campaign in Aden Governorate, where a number of violating and unlicensed exchange companies and facilities were closed. This came based on the directives of His Excellency the Attorney General, Judge Qahir Mustafa Ali, and the Anti-Corruption Undersecretary, Judge Amin Moqbel.
The campaign included 52 establishments and companies in the regions of Mansoura, Enmaa, Dar Saad, Silah, Brega, Salah al-Din, and Bir Ahmed, of which 17 were closed. The Acting Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, Judge Maher Hitler, stressed the importance of this campaign in protecting the national currency and saving it from collapse, noting that practicing money exchange business without obtaining the necessary licenses is considered criminal acts under the applicable laws.
Security campaign in Abyan
In a related context, Abyan Security Emergency Forces carried out a security campaign in the provincial capital, Zanzibar, in response to the directives of the President of the Presidential Council and the Public Funds Prosecution. The campaign succeeded in closing a number of illegal exchange shops that lacked licenses to practice the profession, in cooperation with the Director of the Central Bank, Abyan Branch, and the Public Funds Prosecutor.
Officials in Abyan also confirmed that the campaign will continue in accordance with direct directives to confront any violator of the law, within the framework of strict legal measures that the prosecution and the Central Bank will take to limit the spread of unlicensed exchange shops, which have negatively affected the local economy.
These efforts come as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening the Central Bank’s oversight of banking activities and protecting the national economy from potential risks resulting from non-compliance with regulatory regulations.
