The ministerial committee charged with preparing the government plan to deal with economic developments and urgent priorities and address their causes held its first meeting today in the capital, Aden, headed by the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Committee, Salem Bin Brik.
The meeting included members of the committee, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badib, Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad Al-Ashwal, Civil Service and Insurance, Dr. Abdel Nasser Al-Wali, representatives of the Central Bank of Yemen, Deputy Governor of the Bank, Dr. Muhammad Banaja, and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Assistant Secretary-General for the Plans and Programs Sector, Dr. Fadl. Al-Shaeri, as well as the technical committee to review the government plan, represented by Deputy Minister of Finance Hani Wahab, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for the Budget Sector, Mukhtar Al-Sharahi, and a number of concerned parties.
During the meeting, the Ministerial Committee approved the formation of an auxiliary team that includes representatives from the relevant authorities in order to work on preparing the plan, in accordance with the observations submitted by the ministers and representatives of the committee’s member agencies, and in a manner consistent with the paths of government reform, and ensuring that it takes into account economic developments, the current reality and priorities. Urgent, and come up with an integrated economic document on which the work of the state and the government can be relied upon, in preparation for re-presenting the plan to the Council of Ministers for discussion and taking the necessary measures to approve it.
The Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Committee, Ben Brik, reviewed Cabinet Order No. (9) of 2024 AD regarding the formation of the committee, in accordance with the Cabinet’s briefing on the subject submitted by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic regarding the economic rescue plan... stressing the need for the committee to absorb the visions and proposals. And the observations submitted to prepare the plan, taking care that the committee takes into account the changes and the current reality to ensure the achievement of the plan’s objectives.
While the participants in the meeting stressed the importance of preparing the plan according to short- and medium-term visions, and the need for the plan to be chronic and include setting its priorities and requirements for implementation.
