Aden ATMs ignore the Central Bank's directives and refuse to deal with a specific denomination of cash

Citizens in Aden Governorate reported, on Thursday, that exchange companies in the governorate refused to deal with the 200 riyal note, even though it is an official currency issued by the Central Bank of Yemen.
The citizen, Muhammad Alawi, who frequented a number of exchange companies on 90th Street in Aden, said that he was subjected to a humiliating situation when he tried to exchange his money in a 200 riyal denomination, as the money changers refused to deal with it, and confronted him with ridicule and indignation, while he pointed out that one of the money exchangers threw With the coin in his face.
The citizen, “Alawi,” added that this is not the first time he has faced such a problem, noting that he had previously faced rejection from some stores and markets when he tried to pay for purchases in the form of 200 riyals.
Confirming that if these ATMs receive a transfer or exchange foreign currency, they will force you to take part of the amount from the 200 riyal category.
The Central Bank of Yemen confirmed in a previous statement that the 200 riyal paper currency is a legal tender approved in local markets, bank transactions and money exchange shops, warning any party that refuses to deal in it from legal accountability.
Despite this warning, exchange companies in Aden do not comply with the decisions of the Central Bank, and continue to refuse to deal with the 200 riyal note, which causes inconvenience to citizens and affects the freedom of trading in the national currency.
