The Deputy Governor warned that the continuation of the situation as it is will lead to an environmental disaster, and will negatively affect future development projects in the city, such as the water desalination plants project.
The local authority in Aden decided to take several urgent measures to confront this crisis, including submitting a memorandum to the presidency of the Presidential Leadership Council to demand urgent intervention, forming a technical committee to assess environmental damage, intensifying oversight of ships and industrial facilities, and raising environmental awareness among citizens.
The Deputy Governor also called on all concerned parties to cooperate in protecting the marine environment in Aden, stressing that this matter requires concerted efforts by the government, the private sector and civil society.
