Local sources warned of the dangers of the Tihama Plain areas being exposed to a new natural disaster.
The sources stated that there are real fears of the influx of torrential torrents resulting from the flow of valleys flowing into Tihama, most notably Wadi Sardoud, in addition to the explosion of dams in the “Malhan” district of Al Mahwit Governorate, where water flows very quickly and sweeps away everything in its path, according to Local sources..
According to the sources, the torrents began rushing towards Tihama, including the torrents of Wadi Sardud, the largest of the Tihama valleys, which began hours ago to sweep and besiege dozens of villages in the “Al-Dhahi” district, north of Hodeidah.
This comes in light of the suffering of the Tihama Plain areas from the effects of continuous floods during the past weeks, as many villages and farms were subjected to severe damage due to heavy rains without Houthi movement in the areas under their control, leaving the citizens to face their fate..
These floods led to dozens of deaths, in addition to the destruction of homes and agricultural lands, and the displacement of many families, amid increasing appeals to local and international authorities to provide urgent assistance.
This disaster is expected to further complicate the humanitarian situation in Tihama, especially in light of the weak infrastructure and the difficulty of accessing the affected areas, which requires a quick and effective response by the concerned authorities, including international organizations, to avoid further losses.
