Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi affirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to protect the humanitarian community and work to release doctors detained by the Houthi militias.
This came during a speech via video communication technology at the opening of the first scientific conference on cardiovascular diseases and kidney transplantation, which is organized in partnership with Taiz University with the participation of more than 1,500 local and foreign participants.
Alimi praised the efforts of doctors in improving the lives of Yemenis, noting the importance of the conference as a step towards diagnosing the problems afflicting Yemen, especially Taiz, which needs urgent medical care. He also expressed his optimism that this conference would be the beginning of enhancing health and knowledge in the country, and resisting various diseases, including racism and ignorance.
The President stressed the importance of international efforts to support the health sector in Yemen, praising the prominent role of the King Salman Center and the Emirates Red Crescent in providing medical support. He also pointed to medical achievements in Taiz, with support from Saudi Arabia, which included the establishment of colleges and medical centers, expressing his aspiration to develop a comprehensive vision that would alleviate the suffering of Yemenis and localize health services.
Al-Alimi concluded by thanking Taiz University and the efforts made in organizing the conference, hoping that it would produce results that meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people to improve the health sector.
