Today, hundreds of southerners expelled from their jobs gathered in front of Ma’ashiq Palace in Aden, in protest against the procrastination of the committee arranging their status and its failure to interview them. This move came after they were excluded from the payroll, despite their colleagues receiving their salaries after a break of more than 30 years.
The demonstrators complained of the neglect they were subjected to, as they stressed that the committee did not adhere to the dates of the meetings scheduled to review their situations. This group, which includes military, security, and civilians, has suffered from marginalization since 1994, when they were excluded from the lists of the committee to settle their situations.< /p>
A number of protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with the committee’s failure to respond to meeting requests, despite the promises made to them. One of them stated: “If the person’s name does not appear among the new recruits, he must go to the committee at the administrative base, but the names were not published as expected. "
Another added: “Our demands are that the committee should come down to settle our rights and receive our files, so that they can be submitted to the ministry, as happened with our colleagues who received a salary increase from 30,000 to 130,000.”
This stance comes after a previous demonstration in the city of Khor Maksar, where dozens of military personnel and deportees came out to demand the payment of their dues. The participants appealed to the competent authorities to resolve the issue of the deportees, stressing that the names that were dropped are estimated at hundreds and perhaps thousands.
The protesters addressed an appeal to the Minister of Defense, demanding urgent solutions and stopping the abuse that occurred against thousands of military personnel. They also held the Presidential Council and the Minister of Defense responsible for the current situation, demanding that the confusion between retirees and forcibly deported be addressed.
