Today concluded the second week of the second medical camp to correct strabismus in children at Al Ain Specialized Clinic in the capital, Aden, which was held with the support of Brigadier General Bashir Al Subaihi, Commander of the National Shield Forces, and in partnership with the clinic and coordinated by journalist Saleh Al Obaidi.
The camp achieved a resounding success, as about 85 children and girls from various governorates of the Republic, who suffer from the problem of strabismus, benefited from it during the past two weeks, and about twenty others who did not need surgical intervention, and were provided with medicines and medical glasses.
The successful operations brought a smile back to the faces of these children and their families, who expressed their thanks and appreciation to those in charge of the camp, especially Brigadier General Bashir Al-Subaihi, who provided the necessary support for the success of this humanitarian project, appreciating the efforts of the medical team after they contributed to saving their children from long suffering with strabismus. .
In a moving statement, the 20-year-old girl, Nabatah Abdullah, who comes from Al-Dhalea, spoke about her psychological suffering due to the bullying of those around her, including her friends, which prompted her to stop going to school and meeting people, and after the operation was performed and corrected. Al-Hawl regained her self-confidence, expressing her deep gratitude for giving her a new sense of life. She also appreciated the support of Commander Al-Subaihi, stressing that her happiness is not limited to her, but rather extends to the families of the children who benefited from the camp.
For his part, Dr. Saleh Zein, Director of Al Ain Clinic, explained that more than 80 surgeries were performed during the past two weeks for children and girls suffering from strabismus, out of 150 cases, and pointed out that the demand for the camp is still large, as a number of cases were recorded. More than 130 cases are waiting for their turn. He also confirmed the clinic’s readiness to conduct more operations with the support of any donor, pointing to the great positive impact of this humanitarian work on families in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
The camp's work will continue during the coming weeks to perform strabismus correction operations for the remaining registered cases.
