In a new crime added to the Houthi militia's record of violations, businessman Maher Al-Sada'i was kidnapped by gunmen affiliated with the Houthi leader Abdullah Al-Razami.
The incident occurred inside the Inspector General’s building, which is under the authority of the militia, which raises questions about the extent of the Houthi leadership’s control over its members.
According to informed sources, Al-Saadi went to the Office of the Inspector General to file an official complaint against Al-Razami, who had previously looted his car and other personal belongings. However, he was surprised when he was forcibly taken by Al-Razami gunmen who stormed the office and took him to an unknown location.
The sources reported that Al-Saadi has been subjected to torture and severe beatings since his kidnapping, in order to force him to give up his right to recover his stolen property.
The sources indicated that this incident is not the first of its kind, as Sanaa and a number of governorates under the control of the Houthis are witnessing repeated cases of kidnapping and torture targeting civilians and businessmen.
This incident is considered a clear indication of the continuing state of security chaos in the areas under the control of the Houthis, and the spread of corruption and looting practiced by the militia leaders and members.
