The Association of Mothers of Yemeni Abductees reported that there are 815 abductees and 164 forcibly disappeared people in prisons distributed in the country’s governorates, and more in the Houthi areas, amid shameful international silence and an inability to achieve justice for these victims and their families.
The civil rights organization expressed, in a statement, its condemnation of the continued kidnappings and forced disappearances of innocent civilians, including male and female human rights activists, without any legal justification or justification.
The Association denounced the gross violations of human rights that constitute a flagrant violation of national and international laws, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The statement stressed that the continued detention of dozens of women without legal justification is a double crime that violates the values of our society and our humanitarian traditions, as well as international conventions that criminalize violence against women and attacks on their rights.
He also denounced the international neglect and silence regarding the issue of the abductees without a radical and decisive solution, and the attempt to politicize this humanitarian issue, by resolving which the foundations of peace will be established in Yemen.
He added: "We, in the Association of Mothers of Abductees, demand the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees and forcibly disappeared persons, and we hold the Houthi group primarily and all violating parties fully responsible for their lives and safety."
The mothers of the abductees called on the UN envoy and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to strive and put pressure to move the issue of the abductees internationally, ensure that the violators are held accountable, and obligate the violating parties to implement international agreements and resolutions related to their release and reparation for them and their families.
It also stressed stopping violations against women and human rights activists, ensuring that those responsible for these crimes that threaten the dignity of Yemeni women are held accountable, and renewed the continuation of the human rights struggle until freedom is achieved for every kidnapped, detained and forcibly disappeared person, and prisons are cleansed and dignity is restored to every victim of kidnapping, arbitrary detention and disappearance.
