United Nations: More than 17 million Yemeni people do not get enough water

The United Nations confirmed that the suffering of the Yemenis with water has worsened greatly in recent times due to the long -term conflict and years of dehydration.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA explained that "more than 17 million people in Yemen do not get enough water to meet their basic daily needs, including drinking, bathing and cooking."
He added that the lack of water, sanitation and hygiene resources, exposes the lives of millions of people in Yemen at risk, and leads to a high rate of spread of diseases, especially acute water diarrhea/cholera, and malnutrition, as "a new survey that was conducted in areas of the recognized government's influence has been shown, the presence of a close relationship between diarrhea and wasting in children under the age of five, and the lack of safe drinking water for many families in areas where bad rates rise Nutrition.
Ocha pointed out that among the most needy groups of water, sanitation and hygiene, there are 4.1 million girls, 4.3 million boy, 3.4 million women, 3.5 million men, in addition to 2.2 million internal displaced people.
He added that, despite this catastrophic situation, the water and sanitation group is only 7.2% until now, “It only obtained $ 12.8 million of the total financing required at 176.9 million dollars according to the humanitarian response plan for 2025.”
The United Nations Office called for the need to take urgent measures to address the crisis of water resources, sanitation and hygiene, and to provide more immediate support to meet the needs of affected societies in the country.
