The Houthi militia mourned the dead among its members, announcing on Sunday a list of 6 soldiers, including two senior commanders.
The militias claimed that the deaths occurred during battles on the front lines, but sources spoke of internal fighting within the ranks of the coup plotters that led to the killing of the soldiers.
A list published by the Houthi militia on its media shows the killing of the leader Ahmed Muhammad Abdullah Muhammad Ghaleb al-Mahdi, who was given the rank of “brigadier general,” and whose nickname was “Hamza.” Also, the leader Amin Yahya Mabrouk Ahmed Halsan, who held the rank of “brigadier general,” was killed.
The list also shows the killing of Adel Qeshta and Burhan Al-Harouni, with the ranks of “major,” in addition to two field commanders, the first holding the rank of “captain” and the other holding the badge of “first lieutenant.”
The Houthi militia did not specify the fronts where these soldiers fell, which reinforces the story of several Yemeni sources who confirmed their killing in Al-Jawf Governorate after internecine battles that the governorate witnessed in the past two days.
The Houthi militia has admitted since the beginning of this month that 35 field commanders were killed in its ranks, including 15 commanders who fell in internal battles in Saada Governorate, the main stronghold of the Houthi militia.
The Houthi militias keep their losses very secretive, but the annual events and daily funerals they hold for their dead members and leaders reveal the extent of the human bleeding on the fronts.
The Houthis admitted, during an event of what is called the “General Authority for the Care of Families of the Dead” at the beginning of this year, that the number of their deaths since the coup and the bombing of the battles in late 2014 exceeded 70,000 members, including more than 6,000 military and field commanders.
