The Yemeni government decides to take new measures to combat smuggling

The Supreme Committee for Combating Smuggling in Yemen decided today, Sunday, to take a set of deterrent measures and measures to reduce the phenomenon of smuggling in the country.
The decision came during a meeting held by the committee headed by Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik.
The meeting discussed the measures taken during the last period in combating smuggling, and the successes achieved by the security and defense services in controlling and combating smuggling operations in all its forms and manifestations.
The committee approved a set of new procedures, including:
* Raising the level of coordination between the various agencies and agencies concerned with combating smuggling.
* Redouble efforts and assume responsibility to reduce smuggling.
* Activating the implementation of applicable legislation and regulations related to combating smuggling.
The Yemeni Prime Minister stressed the importance of these measures, and said that smuggling harms society in all its sectors and segments, and is not limited to the economic aspect, but extends to the health and societal aspects.
He stressed the need to take all necessary measures to combat this scourge.
