Ibb.. widespread dissatisfaction and ridicule over the Houthi trial of two brothers on charges of stealing “2 kilos” of tomatoes

In Ibb Governorate, central Yemen, two hungry brothers faced trial on charges of stealing two kilograms of tomatoes from a government agricultural nursery, after three months in detention.
The two brothers, who hail from Al-Qafr District, found themselves before justice in harsh circumstances, as they confessed to the charge against them, justifying their action by extreme hunger that prompted them to steal.
The court affiliated with the terrorist Houthi militia, which controls the governorate, decided to release them on a guarantee, but they did not find anyone to guarantee them, which led to their continued detention.
This incident sparked a wave of ridicule and extreme dissatisfaction among the local community, as the poor are being prosecuted for minor thefts while massive plundering of state resources by militia leaders continues.
Activists and citizens in the governorate expressed their denunciation of these practices, stressing the need for the judiciary to play its role in protecting state institutions and combating the corruption that is ravaging the country.
