A Houthi leader seized land designated for a children’s park and turned it into a commercial hangar in Sanaa

In a move that reflects the continuing violations in Houthi-controlled areas, Muhammad Sharaf Al-Mutahhar, impersonating the Minister of Industry and Trade in the internationally unrecognized Sanaa government, seized land that was designated for establishing a park for the children of the Al-Hasaba neighborhood.
According to human rights sources, Al-Mutahhar built a hangar on the grounds facing the Al-Hasaba Police Department, north of the capital, Sana’a, and rented it to furniture dealers, claiming that the land belonged to his grandfather.
This act comes within a series of seizures and looting carried out by Houthi leaders of state property and citizens, which is a violation of laws and property rights.
Al-Mutahhar is accused of corruption and blackmailing businessmen, which led to the displacement of many of them to areas outside the Houthi control or even outside the country, in search of a safer and more stable environment for their businesses.
