A Yemeni student in Malaysia intends to sue the Minister of Higher Education

The Yemeni student on scholarship in Malaysia, Moaz Abdel Fattah Al-Sufi, accused the Minister of Higher Education, Khaled Al-Wasabi, of dropping his name from the scholarship lists because of his talk about corruption and imbalances in the ministry.
Al-Sufi directed a complaint, which he posted on his Facebook account, to the Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, demanding justice from the abuses of Minister Khaled Al-Wasabi, Minister of Higher Education.
Al-Sufi indicated in his complaint that the minister removed his name from the scholarship lists before the end of his basic term of four years based on his union position, as the student was working as president of the Yemeni Students Union in Pakistan and then the media officer for the founding body of the Yemeni Students Union Abroad.

He pointed out that he spoke in press and television interviews about the imbalances that the Ministry of Higher Education suffers from and presented proposals to address the conditions of students, solve their problems, and alleviate their suffering. As a result, the minister decided to remove his name from the scholarship lists, according to what he said.
He also indicated in the complaint submitted to the Prime Minister and according to the Cultural Attaché’s memorandum that Minister Khaled Al-Wasabi deprived him of his right to a legal extension according to the scholarship law, like his fellow students on scholarship from universities and other government agencies, despite his obtaining a decision to extend study leave from his employer and on a recommendation from The supervisor of his thesis at the university.
The memorandum submitted by the Cultural Attaché in Malaysia to the Ministry of Higher Education indicates that the student has completed the study requirements and all that remains is for him to defend the thesis, as the discussion requires paying tuition fees and discussion fees, which double with time and the entry of new semesters.
The student points out that the competent agent for the scholarships sector had previously directed, based on the scholarship administration’s offer on June 25, 2013, that “there is no objection to an extension.” However, the minister, with legally unjustified obstinacy, stopped the transaction in his office and has detained it ever since, despite repeatedly sending memos. The Cultural Attaché calls on the Minister to do justice to the student and hand over his rights. The latest of these was a memorandum from the Cultural Attaché dated February 5, 2024.
The student, Moaz Abdel Fattah, called on the Prime Minister to intervene to bring justice to him and deter Minister Khaled Al-Wasabi, adding that the minister “cannot distinguish between what is a right guaranteed by law and what is union-related, and that the dispute, regardless of its size, does not, under any circumstances, have the right to stop a student’s dues.” "Employee".
Abdel Fattah noted that if he does not receive a response and justice from the Prime Minister, he will go to the Administrative Court in Aden to file an urgent lawsuit against Minister Khaled Al-Wasabi.
