A German frigate repels a Houthi attack in the Red Sea

The European Union announced that a German frigate participating in its naval mission was able to repel a Houthi attack targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea.
The European Union mission in the Red Sea (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES) said, in its account on the “X” platform, that the German frigate (HESSEN) succeeded, today, Saturday, in repelling an attack coming from the areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, on the sea. Red.
It added that the operation to repel the attack occurred between 2:30 and 3:30 pm (UTC), while the frigate was carrying out its tasks “to provide close protection for commercial shipping in the Red Sea.”
While it did not indicate the type of weapons used in the attack, it said that the frigate was able to deal with “organic weapons and avoid damage that might befall the ship.”
The "ASPEDS" mission confirmed that its military assets, including ships and frigates, operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to provide maritime security in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Gulf under the European Union's Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).
