A Houthi mine spoils an entire family's holiday

A civilian was martyred and six others were injured, including women and a child, all from the same family, on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, 2024, on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, as a result of the explosion of a land mine left by the Houthi militia (classified on the terrorist list) in Abyan Governorate.
Local sources reported that the explosion occurred in a civilian saloon vehicle driven by the citizen Saleh Muhammad Jaim Al-Qafi while he was passing on the public road in the Al-Shatba area on the administrative borders of Al-Bayda and Abyan governorates.
The explosion led to the martyrdom of Al-Qafa’i, and the injury of six others, namely: Muhammad Saleh Muhammad Al-Qafa’i (the victim’s son), Ali Ahmed Abdullah Jaim Al-Qafa’i, and four other women.
The sources indicated that “Al-Qafa’i” was on his way back to his home located in the “Daman” area, north of the Lawdar District, Abyan, to spend the Eid vacation.
According to official and government reports, since the beginning of the war that broke out following its coup on September 21, 2014, the Houthi militia has planted more than two million multi-purpose mines in many areas of the country.
