Saudi authorities arrested a Yemeni resident on charges of harassing a girl in a commercial store, after a clip documenting the crime was circulated on social media.
Saudi Public Security said, in a statement on its account on “X” (formerly Twitter): “The Jeddah Governorate Police arrested a resident of Yemeni nationality who appeared in visual content harassing a girl in a commercial store.”
Saudi Public Security added: “The resident was arrested, legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the Public Prosecution.”
A video clip was widely circulated on social media platforms, showing the accused trying to touch his co-worker’s hand more than once while she was receiving an order from customers.
The clip sparked a widespread wave of indignation in Saudi Arabia, and many users of the “X” platform demanded the arrest of the resident, while referring in their tweets to the Public Prosecution’s account.
