Destroying more than five tons of smuggled medicine in Mahra

The Al-Mahra Governorate Appeals Prosecution Office destroyed five tons and three hundred kilos of smuggled medicines that were seized at the Sarfeet land port two and a half years ago.
The destruction operation took place in the incinerator in the city of Al-Ghaydah in the presence of the head of the governorate’s appeals prosecution, Judge Hani Balhaf, who praised the efforts of those in charge of the Sarfeet port and their role in thwarting most of the smuggling operations, indicating that there is complete coordination between the police and judicial agencies in order to implement all laws regarding the seizure operations.
For his part, the representative of the Supreme Pharmaceutical Authority in the governorate, Dr. Saddam Al-Zidar, explained the seriousness of the seized medications, which were estimated at seventeen million seven hundred and fifty thousand Pregaline capsules listed in the psychotropic substances table, in addition to more than eight hundred thousand ginseng capsules of unknown origin and smuggled in order to promote them with allegations. He pointed out that these drugs were seized because they are of unknown origin and do not have any permits and may lead to health damage, and some of them may lead to addiction.
