The United Nations Human Rights Council unanimously approved a draft resolution to support Yemen under Article Ten, as part of the work of the 54th session currently held at the Council’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The resolution submitted by the Arab Group stipulates providing technical assistance and building Yemen’s capabilities in the field of human rights.
The Yemeni government confirmed that the complex circumstances that our country is currently going through make it in urgent need of the support and assistance of the Human Rights Council and the international community to enable the government to fulfill its obligations in the field of human rights, noting that its interest in investigating all violations and abuses in the field of human rights Human rights and international humanitarian law, and bringing the perpetrators to justice, supports the continued work of the Independent National Commission to investigate allegations of human rights violations.
Director General of International Organizations and Reports, Issam Al-Shaeri, during Yemen’s intervention during the resolution’s adoption session, expressed the government’s appreciation for the efforts and support of the Arab Group and the Arab Nucleus Group during the preparation of the text of the draft resolution. He reiterated the readiness to cooperate with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Human Rights Council to enhance And protecting human rights in Yemen.
