In a decisive step to protect the national economy, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak stressed the need to intensify efforts to control illegal exchange shops and currency speculators in the liberated governorates. These directives come within the framework of a comprehensive government campaign aimed at reducing the decline of the national currency and its repercussions on citizens’ livelihoods.
In the capital, Aden, campaigns carried out under the supervision of the Public Funds Prosecution resulted in the closure of a number of violating exchange establishments.
Dr. Bin Mubarak praised the vital role of the judicial authorities in supporting the efforts of the government and the Central Bank to confront price speculation.
The Prime Minister also reviewed with the Ministers of Justice and the Governor of Aden the level of implementation of presidential directives and Cabinet decisions related to controlling the exchange rate and deterring speculators, stressing the importance of monitoring and controlling basic commodity prices in coordination between government agencies and local authorities to ensure the stability of citizens’ living conditions.
