This evening, the US Central Command announced the implementation of a series of precise air strikes on weapons storage sites in areas under Houthi control in Yemen, during the days of November 9 and 10.
According to the statement, published by the US forces on the X website, the strikes targeted facilities containing advanced weapons used by the Iran-backed Houthis, which pose a threat to the security of military and commercial ships, including ships belonging to the United States and the international coalition in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The operation included the participation of F-35 stealth aircraft from the US Air Force, along with forces from the US Navy.
The Central Command published a video clip documenting the implementation of the strikes, which is the first of its kind since last January. These attacks come as a proactive step to respond to the repeated and illegal attacks launched by the Houthi militias on international commercial ships, as well as the threats directed against American ships and their allies. The operation aims To reduce the Houthis' ability to threaten the security of maritime navigation in the region.
In the same context, British reports reported that explosions occurred 77 nautical miles south of Hodeidah near a commercial ship, which continued sailing without sustaining any damage. The American destroyers USS Stockdale and USS Spruance were also able to confront a missile and drone attack launched by the Houthis while American ships were crossing the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The attack included eight unidirectional drones, five anti-ship ballistic missiles, and four cruise missiles, without recording any casualties or damage to the ranks of American forces or their equipment.
The US Central Command stressed its continued efforts to protect the safety of ships and their crews, and to ensure international navigation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
