The Hodeidah Governorate authorities are talking about the Iranian-backed Houthi group building a wall around the coastal city of Al-Manzhar, located on the outskirts of the city of Hodeidah, which belongs to Al-Hawk District, closing all ports and roads leading to it, forcing its residents to displace, and turning the city into a closed military zone.< /p>
The city of "Al-Manzhar" is located to the southwest of the Hodeidah Airport runway and the Hodeidah Air Base on the coastal strip of the Red Sea, south of the city of Hodeidah in northwest Yemen
Near the city and along the coastline is the Hodeidah parade platform, and to the north is Hodeidah University and the airport roundabout, and to the northeast are the parking lots and Al-Jah sites in the Al-Hawk area. All of these areas are used by the Houthis for military operations. They also use the airport and the base to dig tunnels and build military fortifications and bunkers for storage. That coastal geography was the scene of military exercises and training conducted by the group last October, which included a series of tactical maneuvers simulating the group’s exposure to comprehensive sea and land attacks. For these exercises, the group mobilized forces and combat equipment from areas under its control and carried out major preparatory construction.
Satellite images indicate extensive military developments carried out by the group in the city of Al-Manzhar, which is inhabited by approximately (4,500) citizens, according to a statement issued by the governorate authorities.
An investigation conducted by the Defense Line team earlier revealed that the Houthis used the airport for military operations, carried out military training and maneuvers inside the civil airport and the air base, and that the group carried out developments, constructions, and built fortifications, tunnels, and shelters inside the airport campus and in nearby areas, headquarters, and educational institutions, and the group began... Rehabilitating the airport runway during the truce period in an attempt to restart it to receive civilian and military flights.
These areas were also the target of American-British raids that targeted Houthi sites, launching pads, and radar systems. October witnessed a wave of violent raids in those areas, which the group considers ideal areas for building military facilities, storing military equipment, and developing underground bunkers as part of a plan to militarize the city in anticipation. For any attacks to occur against the group, whose serious fears are growing regarding a military operation to liberate Hodeidah, which is considered the group’s artery through which weapons and support flow.
Security sources had previously revealed to Defense Line that the Houthis had built military barracks and underground shelters, and dug long tunnels in the mountains east of the city of Hodeidah, to use them as military fortifications, and to store new advanced weapons that may reach them from external parties.
