Iranian official television confirmed, on Thursday, that Israel attacked the Rak Nuclear Reactor, which works with heavy water.

Earlier, the Israeli army warned the civilians not to stay in the vicinity of the Rak Reaal for the Heavy Water in Iran, calling for the evacuation of the region.

The RAC reactor is located 250 km southwest of Tehran.

Heavy water is used to cool nuclear reactors, but it produces as a secondary product that can be used in the nuclear weapons industry, which gives Iran another path towards the production of a nuclear bomb, as well as uranium enrichment, if it decides to proceed with this road.

Iran had agreed under the 2015 nuclear agreement with global forces to redesign the reactor to reduce concerns related to the spread of nuclear weapons.

In 2019, Iran began operating the secondary circle of the Rak reactor, which was not considered a violation of the nuclear agreement.
