Dr. warned. Hisham Mohsen Al-Saqqaf, Director of the Office of Planning and International Cooperation in Lahj Governorate, complained of the consequences of the random construction that took place in valleys, flood streams, and on the banks of the sea in a number of governorates, including Lahj and Aden, in exploitation of the state’s weakness and absence after the last war, and the continuation of this dangerous process until the present time, including the construction of Cities with strong influence and money are in unsafe places, especially in Aden, after obtaining licenses from some concerned parties and organizations concerned with the environment and geology in devious ways.
Dr. said. Al-Saqqaf said in a statement to Al-Ayyam: The matter is no longer limited to blocking the sea and its beauty from the eyes of the citizens of Aden, but it has also caused severe damage to the environment, marine life, turtle reserves, Indian palm trees (Al-Dwash), and others. But what is most dangerous is endangering the lives of citizens and residents of these areas. The created areas are a real danger in light of the current climate changes, which will not exclude anyone in the world.
He added: Many agricultural lands have been transformed into concrete buildings, homes, and commercial real estate after their owners sold them under conditions of need and the temptations of those with money. These are historical lands where, for centuries, man has depended on the agricultural crops they sow to sustain his existence and continue his life.
The most dangerous challenge - as Al-Saqqaf said - is residential construction within the flood channels, especially inside Wadi Tuban (the Great Valley), where a residential city was formed north of the city of Al-Wahat and in the Tuban Delta (downstream) in the Al-Haswah area in Aden Governorate.
Al-Saqqaf said: The disaster of Hurricane Daniel in the city of Derna and its environs in Libya must be understood well and we must ring the alarm bells before the disaster occurs - if God permits - and that there are indicators of this kind, not the least of which is the destruction that occurred in Al-Saqya and some places. The other coastal areas are in Al-Mudaraba and Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate.
Dr. concluded. Al-Saqqaf made his statement, saying: The responsibility lies with the Presidential Leadership Council and the Council of Ministers to take immediate action to put in place the necessary precautions to prevent any repercussions that may be imposed by the changing geographical and climate reality in light of the modest and perhaps non-existent capabilities in the governorates, and considering that intervention as a precaution against any disaster must be national and central. Essentially and immediately.
