Southern journalist and writer Jamal Haidara called on southerners to apologize to former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, in an article entitled “Sorry Hadi.”
Haidara said in his article: “We should apologize to President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for what he has done to us as southerners since we demanded his removal from Sanaa along with most of the southern leadership in 1990 AD as a basic condition for signing the unity agreement with Ali Abdullah Saleh, and when we refused to elect him in The year 2012 AD and finally when we worked with all our might to remove him from the presidency.”
Haidara added: “Yes, Hadi entered Aden in 1994 on the back of a tank, and after that he became vice president, but he did not take revenge on anyone and did not exercise regionalism against those who expelled him from the south with fire and iron. Even while he was in power, he never claimed to be the representative of the southerners.” Or he monopolizes public office according to regional standards or under his loyalty to his unionist convictions.”
Haidara continued: “Hadi lived for a decade and a half as vice president and represented no one but himself. Even the crews that were working with him, most of them were not from Abyan, and Al-Dhali’i, Al-Radfani, and Al-Yafei did not feel any differences in treatment from him, nor did he force anyone to be a pure unionist.” ".
Haidara confirmed that Hadi was not a traitor to his south, but rather he was afraid and ashamed of what he had previously witnessed, pointing out that Hadi did not take revenge on anyone, no one was imprisoned, no one was excluded, and no one was deprived of his job or source of livelihood.
Haidara concluded his article by saying: “Sorry Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, our eyes were covered with slogans, and they prevented us from knowing your essence or touching your fears.”
Jamal Haidara's article is an important step towards southern national reconciliation, as he calls on southerners to apologize to former President Hadi, whom they accused of treason and collaborating with the north.
