The head and members of the National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations received, on Thursday, the team of sanctions experts of the United Nations Security Council, at the committee’s headquarters in the capital, Aden.
During the meeting that brought together the two sides, they discussed future cooperation prospects and exchanged information regarding the recent violations that occurred on Yemeni territory, including the recruitment of children and women, depriving students of education and taking exams before enrolling in military courses, as well as the units involved in this.
He also discussed the violations that civilians are exposed to in contact zones, such as sniping, mines, and intermittent clashes, and the conditions of the people living in those areas who were unable to displace and leave their homes due to the financial conditions.
The head of the National Committee, Judge Ahmed Saeed Al-Maflhi, welcomed the visiting team, stressing the continuation of the cooperation and coordination mechanism between the two sides and the committee’s readiness to provide the team with the necessary information and conclusions related to the recent violations it received through its observers present in the field.
Judge Al-Muflhi also expressed the committee’s appreciation for praising its work in the recommendations of the latest report of the sanctions team submitted to the Security Council in November of last year, and the need to provide the necessary support to the National Committee to enable it to perform its work in the field and conduct investigations.
The members of the committee gave a brief presentation on the most prominent contents of the eleventh report of the National Committee, and the most prominent conclusions of the committee during the period that followed regarding violations related to international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
For its part, the International Sanctions Committee team indicated that it is in the process of issuing its midterm report at the end of next month, and that its final report will be completed at the end of this year.
