The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries also touched on the importance of supporting the ministry’s efforts in strengthening institutional building, improving the reality of the agriculture and fisheries sectors as a result of the repercussions of the war, and working to create a practical partnership to advance these two sectors, by working with the Saudi program and relevant international organizations. By strengthening the capabilities of the two segments of fishermen and farmers, who constitute 75% of the population of Yemen, who practice agriculture and fish, which are considered sources of livelihood in light of the existing challenges of the current situation that suffers from the problems of conflict and war and their effects.
Minister Al-Soqatri pointed out the effects of the climate changes that caused hurricanes and depressions that hit the country from time to time, and caused double damage to the standard of living of farmers, fishermen, and society as a whole, and the resulting negative effects on reality, especially those that struck the eastern regions recently in The governorates of Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, and the Socotra Archipelago, which are often exposed to these climate changes, as well as the rest of the governorates that are affected by the ongoing war conflict, in addition to some governorates suffering from high temperatures and low rain levels.
Minister Al-Soqatri appreciated the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at all different economic levels, and the efforts of His Excellency Ambassador Al Jaber through the projects presented by the Saudi Development Program for the agricultural and fish sectors in our country, and his leadership’s interest in vital projects, especially those sustainable development projects that will be reflected in It has a positive impact on the food security of citizens, which the ministry’s leadership gives attention and priority to in its implementation.
