The Speaker of the Yemeni House of Representatives, Sultan Al-Barakani, issued a statement clarifying the circumstances of his meeting with Hamid Al-Ahmar and former President Ali Nasser Muhammad, following the spread of rumors about a coup against Yemeni President Rashad Al-Alimi.
Al-Barakani explained that he went to Jordan for humanitarian and social reasons, including attending the wedding of his colleague Abdo Al-Aoudi’s son and reuniting with the family of Ahmed Abdullah Al-Shaibani.
Al-Barakani confirmed in his statement that his attendance at the meeting with Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar was a coincidence, and that the group photo taken at the meeting was incorrectly interpreted and some claimed that it reflected a conspiracy against the president.
Al-Barakani stressed that these allegations are baseless and that he does not pay attention to paid pens that deliberately cause confusion and spread discord.
Al-Barakani added that he returned to Cairo after completing his mission in Jordan, stressing that his real rivalry is with the Houthis only, and that he seeks to save the country from their tyranny and terrorist acts. He called for gathering ranks to confront them instead of being preoccupied with internal disputes and rumours.
Al-Barakani also announced the continuation of his efforts to resolve the issue of the Al-Shaibani family, expressing his hope that his efforts will be crowned with success for the benefit of everyone. He stressed that he refuses to be drawn into slander and rumours, stressing that his political and social work is clear and announced to everyone.
