The Riyadh debates between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia appear in their form as serious debates with Omani sponsorship and an international green light, but they focused in general on the humanitarian file, opening airports and ports, disbursing salaries, and similar details, and the Houthis’ acceptance comes from the angle of postponing the difficult issues until future stages, and this may be the case. These are signs of the success of these dialogues.
Saudi Arabia’s acceptance of the discussion on that file in exchange for considering the war a Yemeni-Yemeni affair and the Kingdom remaining more like a mediator between the Yemeni parties. This means that the results of what may be reached will place the parties to the conflict inside Yemen in front of a warrior’s rest, as a prelude to another chapter of the war in the geography of the Republic. Yemeni only, it may be long or short, but it will undoubtedly lead to a Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue that charts the future of Yemen, as will be determined by the war map, and the conflicting parties’ recognition of each other and their acceptance of the new reality.
During the next stage, the war may be South-Yemeni, or it may be Yemeni, South-Yemeni, through the transitional alliance with the national forces in Yemen. It does not rule out new developments, the Islah-Houthi alliance, and it also does not rule out the war turning into a sectarian war wrapped in a blanket. Political, meaning that all possibilities are possible, specifically if the understandings between Saudi Arabia and Iran fail, meaning that the tensions between regional and international powers will continue to have a strong impact on the Yemeni scene.
This is why we in the south, under the leadership of the Transitional Council, must analyze the crisis logically with its new data, with scenarios from multiple angles, and read the developments rationally, in order to successfully navigate the future. It requires more organization and unification of the internal front, in all aspects and directions, economic, political, Military,
Community enables the nation's ship to reach safety.
