The Al-Basus War was a war that broke out between the Taghlib tribe and its allies against the Banu Shayban and its allies, after a spy killed Kalib bin Rabi’a Al-Taghlabi in revenge for his aunt Al-Basus, who was from the Banu Tamim tribe, after Kalib killed a she-camel that belonged to her neighbour. Many Arab narrators mention that this war continued. Forty years.
Once again, the Basus war is emerging in our societies, claiming many lives, not adhering to the teachings of our Islamic religion, the prohibition of premeditated killing of oneself, its destructive effects on the social fabric, and the disturbance of public tranquility.
What happens in Shabwa from time to time, and other southern governorates, in terms of tribal battles, must stop immediately, and Shabwa’s wise men and sheikhs intervene, both religiously and tribally, to heal the conflict and extinguish the existing strife.
The absence of the state, order, law, and judiciary, and their replacement with martial law, made our country a scene of revenge, from which everyone complained, and as a result, many families were displaced and migrated, in search of safety and security.
Apart from arrogance, there is a general truth that must be said that is felt by all segments of society, which is that security, order and law have become a necessary and urgent requirement. Even those who were exploiting this lack of security have become more demanding because they fall into the trap of revenge, as there is no savior to solve it. Change law and order, even if its solutions are not convincing to them, but it saves face.
We hope that a day will come when we will see all conflicts brought under the jurisdiction of the law and the judiciary, and all the revenges that made mothers cry and grieve for their lives will end, in light of the perpetuation of fear and anxiety about the loss of more and more lives.
