It is difficult these days to find a voice that convinces you from the first sight... a voice that captivates your soul and takes it to where you want with ease and passion.
But it happened to me and to everyone who listened to the young artist Moaz Al-Asbahi. He has a classic, captivating voice and a velvety throat that takes you to another world. It takes you to the time of the sounds of beautiful art and the golden age.
When I heard him for the first time singing the song (Mastaniyak) by the Tunisian artist Aziza Jalal at the New Aden Garden Theater, I was amazed by the beauty of his voice, his high feeling, and his ability to convey feelings to their peak when he gives each letter its due due to the music and feeling.
Moaz has various layers of voice that rise like the waves of the sea and fall like its breeze. When you listen to him, you do not want the song to end, and when he finishes singing, you hear a soul saying, Oh, peace.
He delights you when he sings with a musical band, adding to it a dimension full of feeling and creativity, and he delights you when he sings alone without any musical instrument... Recently, I listened to him during rehearsals for the Eid Culture Office celebrations, and I was amazed by his creativity.
I was very happy to listen and we had a quick dialogue and we asked legitimate questions that I hope to find answers to from those in charge of culture and its management and satellite channels, including a voice like this. What is its fate in light of the marginalization of talent and the lack of interest in it?!
We have a number of satellite channels...why don't you care about such beautiful sounds?
Returning to the Eid celebration... why not prepare a musical band that matches Al-Asbahi’s voice and performance like the rest of the artists who are invited to participate and given great privileges from the people of the country as well as from people outside the country.
If Moaz Al-Asbahi is supported to participate in any competition, I am confident that his voice will mesmerize any jury and the entries will win people’s votes and he will achieve the achievement that every artist seeks and we will be proud of him abroad before home.
If Moaz Al-Asbahi does not receive the required attention and escape from the veil of favoritism and mediation, he will be oppressed like many voices that preceded him and cast into the unknown in the absence of anyone who can and understands art, creativity, and high sensitivity.
