Informed sources revealed that an important meeting was held in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, between the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and the Deputy Chairman of the Council and President of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi. The meeting, which is described as pivotal, aims to discuss the accumulated differences within the Presidential Leadership Council, which have clearly emerged recently and negatively affected the general situation in the country.
According to Al-Amina Al-Adeniya newspaper, this meeting seeks to develop radical solutions to the existing differences between the two parties, in addition to addressing the outstanding issues that hinder the work of the Council. The meeting is also expected to discuss the future of the Leadership Council, including plans to restructure it and reduce the number of its members, which is a sensitive topic that is still a matter of disagreement between the various parties.
Sources indicate that the failure to hold any direct meeting between Al-Zubaidi and Al-Alimi during the previous period, especially in Riyadh, was an indication of the extent of tension between them, which led to serious repercussions, including the cessation of support provided by sisterly countries. These countries stipulated first unifying the ranks of the Presidential Leadership Council, and then improving coordination between the Council and the government secondly, as a condition for resuming support and addressing crises, most notably the economic challenges plaguing the country.
This meeting, which was held in a tense atmosphere and major challenges, places high hopes for reaching understandings that contribute to unraveling the complexities of the current political and economic scene. But the most important question remains: Will the Abu Dhabi summit succeed in dismantling the differences that threaten the cohesion of the Presidential Leadership Council?
