The Saudi Ministry of Culture celebrated the Yemeni Orchestra, in a ceremony organized in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh, in the presence of the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Yemen, Mr. Muammar Al-Eryani, and His Excellency the Assistant Minister of Culture, Mr. Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Touq. A gathering of intellectuals, artists, and media professionals from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen.
The ceremony included an artistic performance performed by Yemeni artists, which included various musical and singing styles mixed with traditional arts inspired by the colors of the Yemeni heritage, such as: Adeni, Sanaani, and Hadhrami, and Saudi musicians participated in presenting joint heritage pieces between the two brotherly countries.
The ceremony was accompanied by side events, represented by the participation of the Music Authority in dedicated corners that allow those interested to learn about and describe musical instruments, the most prominent of which are the oud, the qanun, the semsimiya, the rababa, Safriqa, and the tar, in addition to a presentation of the “Saudi Music Memory” initiative, through which it is documented The Authority preserves and archives Saudi lyrical and musical artistic works throughout the history of the Kingdom, until the mid-1980s, and the “Saudi Ways” initiative, which was launched by the Authority in cooperation with the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, with the support and supervision of the Culture Memory Center. To inventory and document various forms of music and performance, including individual methods, collective arts, and musical forms in various regions of the Kingdom, and to produce documentary materials for them.
The accompanying activities included the participation of the International Alliance Foundation for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Zones (Alif) in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, with a photo exhibition showcasing the restoration and preservation of heritage and historical sites carried out by (Alif) in Yemen, in cooperation with Yemeni institutions and organizations. International.
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen also participated in a pavilion displaying its development projects and initiatives, which amounted to (263) development projects and initiatives in eight basic and vital sectors, namely: education, energy, transportation, water, agriculture and fisheries, and supporting and developing the capabilities of the Yemeni government. and development programs in 16 Yemeni governorates; To highlight the Kingdom’s efforts to support and develop the sister Republic of Yemen.
The 'Yemeni Orchestra' concert represents an aspect of the international cultural exchange programs and activities that the Ministry of Culture is working on as one of the goals of the National Strategy for Culture, under the umbrella of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
