While discussions and negotiations continue behind the political scenes to mature the formula for an agreement that would end the war on Lebanon, the Prime Minister commented.
Before November 5th
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Wednesday that he had asked US Special Envoy Amos Hockstein for the possibility of reaching a ceasefire before the fifth of next month, the date of the US presidential elections.
Mikati added in a television interview that the call on Wednesday with the American envoy suggested that perhaps the negotiations could reach a ceasefire in the coming days, before the fifth of next month.
The head of the caretaker government in Lebanon stressed that he hopes to announce within hours a truce that will lead to a cessation of hostilities.
This comes as military operations continue, and at the same time, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation published on Wednesday evening what it said was the text of a proposed ceasefire in Lebanon.
The leaked document indicated a complete cessation of hostilities by Lebanon and Israel.
I also mentioned that the Lebanese Army is responsible for implementing the agreement in the south.
It revealed that America and international powers will support the strengthening of the Lebanese army in quantity and quality.
It also stressed that Israel reserves the right to act militarily against threats in coordination with America.
It made clear that Israel is obligated to withdraw its forces from Lebanon within 7 days of the cessation of fighting, provided that the Lebanese army replaces them.
60 days
As for flying, there is no violation of the sound barrier, but rather hidden flying only out of necessity, provided that the agreement is fully implemented within a 60-day truce.
The document also calls on Lebanon and Israel to implement international resolutions 1701 and 1559.
In addition, the broadcasting authority said that the scheduled visit of US envoy Amos Hockstein to Beirut, if his negotiations in Tel Aviv are positive, will put the final touches on the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon
