A new Syrian official from the era of Bashar al -Assad handed himself over to the authorities in Damascus.

According to media reports, Major General Mohamed Al -Shaar, the former Syrian Interior Minister and Vice -President of what was known as the Progressive National Front, delivered himself today to the Syrian authorities through intermediaries.

The slogan claimed that the Ministry of Interior was "only responsible for the official prisons", and that it "has no hidden prisons."

The only surviving slogan in the bombing of the crisis cell was on July 18, 2012, killing other officials who were at the meeting, and wounding him.

Who is Muhammad Al -Shaar?

Muhammad Al -Shaar was born in Lattakia countryside in 1950, and he affiliated with the army and the armed forces in 1971, where he was included in military positions where he held several positions in the Military Intelligence Division, including his assumption of security in Tripoli, Lebanon in the 1980s, and the head of military security in Tartous , And the head of the Military Security Branch in Aleppo, and the head of the region branch 227 of the Military Intelligence Division, then he took over the military police.

Despite his retirement age, he was appointed on April 14, 2011 as Minister of the Interior until November 2018.

The slogan is considered one of the prominent figures in Lebanon during the reign of Ghazi Kanaan, where the Syrian forces participated under his supervision in the events of Tripoli, Bab al -Tabbaneh in December 1986, which killed about 700 civilians from the city, some of them children, and he was released since that Then the title of "Square of Tripoli".

He is also accused of being one of the most prominent involvement in violations in Sednaya prison in 2008.

About a month after the outbreak of protests in Syria in March 2011; Mohamed Al -Shaar took over the Ministry of Interior, and he was a member of the crisis cell, and he is the only one who survived the bombing in the National Security Office in Damascus on July 18, 2012 which led to the killing of General Dawood Rajiha, the Minister of Defense, and his deputy, General Asif Shawkat, General Hassan Turkmani, and Major General Hisham Bakhtia Director of the National Security Office.

Since mid -2011, the logo is on the Western sanctions list.
