Journalist Anam Al-Subaihi, on his Facebook page, raised questions about the fate of the taxes received from the locomotives and porters that take the road of the Mudaraba and Ras Al-Ara District via the side roads towards Al-Wazi’iyah and Al-Kadha in the northern regions and governorates.
Al-Subaihi expressed his surprise that these amounts were not used to repair the roads that were damaged as a result of the continuous movement of these heavy vehicles.
He pointed out that these vehicles cause serious damage to Aqabat Al-Mansoura Road in the Ruwais area, making it highly vulnerable to accidents.
He also stressed that the frequent breakdowns and accidents that locomotives are exposed to while ascending the Mansoura obstacle often cause the road to be completely closed to citizens. He stressed that this matter constitutes a great danger, especially in emergency situations when residents are unable to provide assistance to their patients due to the road being closed as a result of a vehicle breakdown or accident.
Al-Subaihi pointed out that what was mentioned is just a small aspect of the suffering of the people of the region, calling on the concerned authorities to take urgent action to address this problem that threatens the lives of citizens and increases their daily suffering.
It has recently spread that these lines extending from Mudaraba to the areas of the northern governorates are used by smugglers of contraband, cigarettes, prohibited pesticides, and others. A joint force has launched campaigns during the past months against smuggling boats, burned the smugglers’ yards, and seized large quantities of smuggled materials on the coastal strip.
