The leadership of the local authority in Lahj Governorate, last Saturday, April 26, 2025 AD, implemented a comprehensive field visit to the speculation directorate and the head of the Ara, one of the most important and largest directorates of the governorate, in order to determine its service and development conditions, and to discuss investment opportunities in it.
The Director General of the Office of Industry and Trade in the governorate, Abd al -Rab Ali al -Jaafari, participated in the visit, along with a number of leaders and officials, led by the Director General of Social Affairs and Labor in the governorate, Saeb Abdulaziz Shukri, the Governor’s Adviser for Organizations Affairs Omar Muqbel Ali Al -Samati, and the director of the commercial registry Salah Ahmed.
The visiting delegation was received by the Director General of the Directorate, Murad Jobh, the Secretary -General Dr. Awad Al -Aqami, and a number of directors of executive offices, where the visit included a number of vital facilities, including the new local authority building that was established in 2024, the headquarters of the security campaign, and the court building, in addition to the sports club being qualified with artificial grass.
The delegation also inspected the Ras al -Ara port project and the local hospital, and was briefed on the health services and the free medicines provided, whether by international organizations or through local efforts. The visit witnessed a review of the efforts of the security campaign in combating smuggling and controlling a number of boats and cars used in smuggling operations.
The visit touched on a number of service projects that are currently being implemented, including the Ras Al -Ara water project, Azafa water projects, ways, drainage, and kour Amira, where the water was delivered to the houses for the first time in the history of the directorate. Studies are currently being prepared for an electricity project that includes the areas of Ras Al -Ara, Al -Khor, Al -Saqiya, Al -Saalf, and Heerb.
In a press statement, Abdul -Rab Al -Jaafari confirmed that the directorate has long suffered from marginalization and the absence of basic services such as electricity and water, which has not witnessed any vital projects since the 1970s. He pointed out that the systematic exclusion policies that were practiced during the previous periods contributed to the exacerbation of the suffering of the population, although the region has enormous investment and tourism ingredients, including a natural naval crescent that extends from Khor Amira to Ras Al -Ara.
Al -Jaafari explained that the concerted efforts between the security and military authorities contributed to the stability of the educational process, while continuous support from the local authority helped improve the performance of various facilities.
Al -Jaafari concluded his speech, with an explicit invitation to the leaders of the state, especially the people of the Sabiha regions, to adopt a comprehensive development strategic vision that promotes the reality of the directorate, and opens the doors to investments after addressing land issues and ending tribal conflicts. Stressing that the real future of Lahj governorate lies in its coastal tape, and not only in traditional cities, stressing that the legitimate dream of the people of the region is the establishment of a modern port and tourist resorts along the coast, in a way that achieves a comprehensive economic and development renaissance for the directorate and the governorate as a whole.
The Directorate of Speculation and Ras Al -Ara is one of the largest directorates of Lahj Governorate, with an area of 3697 square kilometers, which is equivalent to nearly a third of the area of the governorate, and it extends on a coastal strip of 150 km overlooking the Bab al -Mandab strait, which gives it a unique geographical and economic importance.
