Informed sources at the Telecommunications Corporation and Yemen Net Company revealed a temporary disruption of the payment and bill collection system, in addition to renewing packages, as a result of security measures taken by the Houthi agencies.
According to sources, the old subscriber database was canceled and replaced with a new one used for security purposes, resulting in services being halted for more than two days.
The new updates included recording data according to the new electronic card equipped with the national number, and recommendations from the neighborhood heads and supervisors were added; The names of the real users, not just the owners, have also been updated, with names considered suspicious, especially those opposed to the Houthis, being flagged.
These measures greatly affected subscribers, as malfunctions multiplied and service was interrupted for many of them.
Several cities, including the capital, Sana'a, witnessed long queues in front of recharge and payment centres, following the cessation of service that lasted for several days.
