New details reveal the circumstances of the killing of a young man due to the distribution of “dates” in Aden

Activist Zaid Ibn Yafea revealed new details about the killing of the young man Mutee Al-Shamiri in the Abu Harba area in the city of Aden, after inaccurate accounts were circulated about the incident.
Ibn Yafa’ explained on his Facebook page: Mutee’ al-Shamiri was working with a merchant, and he assigned him to distribute dates to the poor. When a mother and her son came to him asking for dates, he told them that he had sent them with someone else.
The boy insisted on getting the dates immediately, and after an argument between them, the boy left with his mother, then returned a short time later carrying a weapon, and killed Mutee in cold blood.
Ibn Yafea commented on the incident, saying that the culture of weapons and killing spread greatly after 2015, and the simplest things began to cause killing.
He pointed out that some people no longer realize the seriousness of this crime and its punishment, and that the reasons no longer require grudges or revenge as it was in the past, but rather a simple word or disagreement has become enough to commit the crime of murder.
Ibn Yafa believes that the spread of ignorance, the absence of family control, and the collapse of education are among the most important reasons that led to the exacerbation of this phenomenon.
Ibn Yafea called for concerted efforts by all members of society to combat this phenomenon, by spreading awareness about the dangers of gun culture, activating the role of the family in raising children on moral values, improving the quality of education, and enhancing cooperation between security and community agencies.
The killing of the young man Mutee Al-Shamiri is a tragic example of the phenomenon of the spread of the culture of killing in Aden, which requires concerted efforts from all sectors of society to reduce this phenomenon and protect lives.
