In a step that strengthens international efforts to combat terrorism, New Zealand and Australia announced the designation of the Houthi militias and the Lebanese Hezbollah as terrorist organizations. This new classification imposes severe restrictions on dealing with these two militias, and is considered a victory for efforts to stop Iran’s support for terrorism in the region.
A member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, praised the step taken by Australia, stressing that it supports unifying the international position against the terrorism of the Houthi militias.
He expressed his hope that this decision would motivate other countries to take similar steps to increase pressure on the Houthis.
For his part, Major General Al-Zubaidi stressed, during his meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Yemen, Mark Donovan, the importance of confronting the ongoing Houthi escalation against international shipping lines in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden. The two parties also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields, which contributes to enhancing security and stability in Yemen and the region.
